I think cutting taxes, unneeded programs and reducing expenditures IS HIS JOB in these trying times. To do otherwise would be irresponsible. The schools have not done a good of spending our money in the past. Walk into one of the newer schools and look at all the "fluff" that WE paid for.
I think a little austerity will help the school board to learn to prioritize and become better stewards of our tax money.
